Health Metrics Systems, Inc. (HMS) is a spinoff from the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) created to enhance Solutions quality improvement software developed at PAMF and to license its use outside of PAMF. By agreement with PAMF, HMS licenses the Solutions free to all safety-net clinics and similar organizations.
Our Product
Solutions is a suite of software products that support quality improvement and efficiency in medical practices. The software takes data from a variety of sources such as electronic medical records (EMR), scheduling, billing, lab, and pharmacy IT systems. It performs calculations on the data, applies expertise, and presents the results for physicians and administrators to use for decisions and actions. The suite was created at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) by its Senior Director of Quality Improvement and Planning, Tomás Moran. It is in use now at PAMF, Santa Cruz Medical Group and at OCHIN, an IT organization in Oregon which supports safety-net clinics. Community clinics in New York City, Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Merced, and Santa Rosa have licensed the software.Community Benefit
The use of Community Benefit funds to provide Solutions to safety-net clinics holds the promise of ameliorating disparity in healthcare access and quality. By providing Solutions support to the clinics in their areas, medical groups with IT staff can provide measurable, scalable, and cost-effective professional benefits in their communities.
